She stared out of her window, long white dress billowing about her from the morning breeze. She closed her eyes, enjoying the feel of the sunlight on her face.

Her mind drifted off for a moment before she the sound of fluttering wings filled the room and strong arms snaked around her waist. Soft lips gave softer kisses along her neck.

“You didn’t have to wake up.” She said, eyes still closed. His wings surrounded her, blocking out the sunlight and she felt herself dragged back onto the bed.

She looked at him then, face covered in tattoos, eyes dark and wicked. “I couldn’t sleep without you by my side.” He purred at her as he kissed her.

She returned his kiss. “You are ever the sweet talker.”

“There is much about me that is sweet. Kiss me again and I’ll show you.” He gave a small smile as she kissed him, arms and wings wrapped around her.

The Red String of Fate

An Eastern Asian legend originating in China and also referred to in Japanese mythology as well. According to this myth, the gods would tie an invisible red string around men and women who were meant to be soul mates and in time, would marry one another. This magical string can twist, tangle, or stretch, but the ‘bond’ will never break.

The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of time, place, or circumstances.
