Often when I imagine you,
your wholeness cascades into many shapes.
You run like a herd of luminous deer,
and I am dark;
I am forest.
Rainer Maria Rilke,from Rilke’s Book of Hours, I, 45.

This is Ruby Beach. I’ve actually climbed up the island there in the background to discover that several primitive campsites have been constructed up there. I never have camped out there, but have always wanted to. If the climb up wasn’t so precarious, I could imagine spending white a while up there. The view of the Destruction Island Lighthouse from up there is incredible.
